IGNES & COEDIS
FAB-DIS was born from a collaboration between IGNES and COEDIS, who joined their expertise as manufacturers and distributors to create a shared language around product data.
This project addresses the challenges of product referencing, smoother data exchanges and digitalisation of the sector, by offering a shared and sustainable standard.
IGNES is the trade association that brings together the digital, electrical and secure engineering industries. It unites the leading manufacturers of solutions and equipment for buildings and infrastructure: electricity, home automation, digital networks, electronic security and energy management.
It supports manufacturers, public authorities and stakeholders in France, while contributing to European and international dynamics.
COEDIS is the representative body for professional distribution companies specialising in the supply of finishing trades for residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Its members supply more than 200,000 building professionals with the products, services and equipment needed for their installation work, both for new builds and renovations — HVAC, electricity, sanitary, plumbing and heating.

As General Delegate of IGNES, the trade association that brings together manufacturers of electrical and digital solutions for smart buildings, I am convinced that the quality of product data is a major challenge for the entire sector.
IGNES members — manufacturers of intercoms, alarms, building management systems, cabling, connectors and IoT solutions — share one thing in common: their products are increasingly complex, communicating and interoperable. This requires rich, standardised and up-to-date data exchanges with all their partners, particularly distributors.
FAB-DIS fits precisely into this logic. This common data model is a structuring tool that helps streamline relationships between suppliers and distributors, while ensuring the consistency, reliability and clarity of the information shared.
IGNES has actively supported the development of FAB-DIS from the very beginning. This collective initiative reflects our shared ambition: to build a more efficient, more connected industry that is geared towards the future.
As General Delegate of COEDIS, the trade association representing distributors of electrical equipment, HVAC, sanitary, heating and plumbing supplies, I represent a network of key players who ensure the availability of technical products and solutions across all regions.
In this context, FAB-DIS holds a strategic place for COEDIS. By standardising the exchange of technical, logistical and commercial data between suppliers and distributors, FAB-DIS meets an essential need: improving efficiency, reliability and interoperability in information flows.
COEDIS is actively involved in the governance of FAB-DIS to ensure that the standard evolves in line with distributors’ expectations and remains a unifying tool serving the entire industry.
The launch of FAB-DIS Connect marks an important new step. It will help strengthen support for companies, encourage adoption of the model, and promote a shared vision between manufacturers and distributors.
