The creators: IGNES and COEDIS

FAB-DIS was born from a collaboration between IGNES and COEDIS, who combined their expertise as manufacturers and distributors to create a common language around product data.
This project addresses the challenges of product listing, smooth data exchange, and digitalization of the sector by providing a shared and sustainable standard.

Anne-Sophie PERRISSIN-FABERT | General Delegate of IGNES

As the General Delegate of IGNES, the professional union that brings together manufacturers of electrical and digital solutions for smart buildings, I am convinced that the quality of product data is a major issue for the entire industry.
IGNES members—manufacturers of intercom systems, alarms, BMS, cabling, connectivity, and IoT solutions—have one thing in common: their products are increasingly complex, connected, and interoperable. This requires rich, standardized, and up-to-date data exchanges with all their partners, especially distributors.
FAB-DIS fits perfectly into this logic. This common data model is a structuring tool that streamlines relationships between suppliers and distributors, while ensuring the consistency, reliability, and clarity of the information shared. For manufacturers, it is both a requirement and an opportunity: to better showcase their offers and strengthen their presence across physical and digital distribution channels.
IGNES has actively supported the development of FAB-DIS since its inception. We see it as a lever for competitiveness for our members, as well as a way to strengthen synergies among stakeholders in the sector. The FAB-DIS Connect initiative marks an essential step by providing greater clarity, educational resources, and support tools to those who use or wish to adopt the model.
This collective approach reflects our shared ambition: to build a more efficient, more connected, and future-oriented industry.

Roland MONGIN | General Delegate de COEDIS

As the General Delegate of COEDIS, the professional organization representing distributors of electrical equipment, HVAC, sanitary, heating, and plumbing solutions, I represent a network of key players who ensure the availability of technical products and solutions across all regions. The role of distribution is central in the value chain, working closely with manufacturers and installers, and increasingly relying on the mastery of product information.
In this context, FAB-DIS holds a strategic position for COEDIS. By standardizing the exchange of technical, logistical, and commercial data between suppliers and distributors, FAB-DIS addresses an essential need: improving efficiency, reliability, and interoperability in information flows. This standardization strengthens the quality of product databases and supports omnichannel strategies, which are essential to the digitalization of our industry.
COEDIS is actively involved in the governance of FAB-DIS to ensure that the standard evolves in line with distributor expectations and remains a unifying tool for the entire sector. At a time when performance, traceability, regulatory, and sustainability challenges are increasing, having a shared standard is becoming a lever for collective competitiveness.
The launch of FAB-DIS Connect marks an important new step. It will strengthen support for companies, encourage the adoption of the model, and promote a shared vision between manufacturers and distributors.
